Next-Level switchgear manufacturing

BT-Anlagenbau has been manufacturing control cabinets in Austria since 1987. Since 2019, its highly qualified specialists have been planning everything in 3D. Since 2020, customers have been enjoying the decisive advantages of an online link between electrical engineering and CNC processing machine in production – control cabinets have never been produced so precisely and cleverly. 2023 will be an incredible year of broken records in many respects: Despite the high degree of outsourcing of control cabinet manufacturing to other countries, where the hourly rate of production is far more favourable, BT-Anlagenbau, which produces exclusively in Austria, does not feel any decline in orders. On the contrary, soon BT-Anlagenbau will exceed the 14,000-unit mark. 14,000 control cabinets from approx. 55 million individual parts and close to 20 million metres of wires and cables have been produced at two Styrian locations, so everything is "Made in Austria". The constant growth in orders also brings with it a constant increase in staff. With the addition of three new, highly trained employees in control cabinet production, our manufacturing staff is expected to increase to 40 people in the short term – more than ever before in the company's history! And that's a good thing, because next year the biggest project in switchgear manufacturing since the company’s inception will take off. We’re talking about the general overhaul of the Ofenau and Hiefler tunnels as well as the Werfen chain of tunnels on the A10 motorway in Salzburg. For this order alone, SPIE Dürr Austria requires more than 500 switchgear systems, increasing our forecast for 2024 to a remarkable 1,500 control cabinets. That’s a new record!

International certifications

However, large orders alone do not result in such an impressive workload. BT-Anlagenbau is one of the few carefully selected companies in Europe that are SIEMENS SIVACON licence partners. In addition, BT-Anlagenbau is UL 508A certified. A seemingly unremarkable code with great ramifications. Because if you are UL 508A certified, you know how to build equipment for the American markets and their guidelines, and you can apply the UL label to them on site. UL stands for Underwriters Laboratories, the world leader in testing and certification of safety standards. The A also makes a difference, as it quickly shows all those in the know that this certification is up to date. As a matter of fact, we are the only company in Austria that is a SIEMENS SIVACON licence partner and UL 508A certified. A unique selling proposition in a class of its own.

As our staff in control cabinet production continuously give their best and always work hard during peak times, it is particularly important to give back to them. That is why we recently introduced a "short week". Every second Friday, all workers have a day off, an extra long weekend to recharge their batteries and enjoy leisure time with friends and family. Innovation and motivation go hand in hand. Thus, we have reached the next level in switchgear manufacturing and team spirits.
