BT-Anlagenbau at the theatre

Modernisation of the Finnish Suomen Kansallisteatteri National Theatre

This summer, the actors at the Finnish National Theatre in Helsinki were performing admirably. Experts from BT-Anlagenbau have electrically modernised the interior of the Art Nouveau building, which goes back to 1902, in one rapid stage taking just six weeks.

Waagner Biro Stage Systems in Finland has relied on BT-Anlagenbau as a fast, reliable and innovative partner. The commissioned scope of modernisation at Suomen Kansallisteatteri, as the National Theatre is called in Finnish, included the installation of more than 9,000 metres of cable with some cable tray constructions, including the replacement of individual control cabinets. But before this feat could be successfully completed, more than 7,500 metres of cable had to be dismantled and, in addition, countless small parts such as brake resistors, terminal boxes, plugs and push-buttons had to be replaced. This would also have impressed the Finnish architect and professor Onni Tarjanne.

Since the original building was completed by Tarjanne in 1902, the demand for theatre in Finnish grew rapidly. The building has been enlarged several times and now holds 4 stages for a total of almost 1,500 visitors.

The modernisation efforts paid off: Facing a very ambitious conversion time, of course after observing specific Finnish standards and regional customer regulations, the National Theatre now stands safely and confidently again.
