BT-Anlagenbau Excited about World Championship

BT-Anlagenbau is main sponsor of the robotics team of HTL Weiz and will be following their fortunes with interest in the run-up to the 2015 RoboCup in Shanghai.

ECE-LOGistic Team Austria, the robotics team of the Higher Technical Institute (HTL) in Weiz, has already won the national championship five times and the world championship four times. With the help of their trainer Anton Edl, they hope to repeat the exercise this year. But before defending their world title, they first have to win the national competition in April.

Since 2006, the HTL Weiz has been offering robotics as an optional course, which involves students designing, building and programming robots in their free time. They work on their projects for a whole year before entering them in the world’s biggest robot championship, the RoboCup. The competition has three parts: football, rescue and dance and there are about 2000 participants aged from 10 to 19. National champions compete against each other in these three disciplines – and then they cooperate with each other in randomly chosen superteams to solve new tasks.

The cooperation in the teams generates new problem-solving approaches which can then become part of the further development of software and hardware. The concept of enabling the students to experience ‘technology in a team’ is a perfect match for the values of BT-Anlagenbau. That is why the company decided to become the team’s main sponsor. With team uniforms – and 220 pairs of crossed fingers for the Austrian championship.
