What is Hyperspectral Imaging?
Unlike conventional colour camera systems, hyperspectral cameras do not just record three pieces of colour information (red, green, blue) per pixel, but hundreds of spectral information per pixel. These multiple points of information can be represented as a spectral signal. Mathematical algorithms, known as chemometric methods, are used to identify the chemical composition of the object recorded from such a spectral signal. This enables the object surfaces to be very precisely analysed, going far beyond the previously recognised options.
Example of application: Insulation materials
For the first time, it is now possible to carry out a 100% surface inspection of insulation products, fully automatically, using the BT-Anlagenbau, HSP Product Analyzer. The technology, already deployed in more than 900 machines around the world, enables defects on the mineral wool surface to be precisely identified and screened out.
