BT-Anlagenbau is happy to be chosen as the supplier of all the switchgear cabinets, control boxes and connector boxes for the Gleinalm road tunnel. The 8,320-m long Gleinalm tunnel is part of the A9 Pyhrn-Autobahn, one of the major north-south road links through the Alps, and up to now it has been a single tunnel with two-way traffic. Now a second tunnel is being built, and when it opens (scheduled for early 2019) it should significantly improve flow and reduce the risk of accidents.
BT-Anlagenbau has taken on the order for the electrical equipment as a subcontractor of Dürr Austria GmbH. Like BT-Anlagenbau, Dürr is based in Gleisdorf and is the general contractor for the electrical and mechanical systems in the tunnel.
Approximately 1,000 cabinets and boxes, with over 900,000 individual components, will be installed. Around 800,000 m of copper wires and copper rails with a total weight of around 28 tonnes will be laid to the highest standards and with strict quality controls. For BT-Anlagenbau, value creation in Austria is a high priority and this project translates into thousands of hours of work that will be done exclusively in Gleisdorf.
