The US organisation “FIRST Global” staged the first international robotic Olympiad for high-school students in Washington, D.C., USA, from 16 to 18 July 2017. Teams from 157 countries from all continents took part in the competition. Austria was among the participants and was represented by the ECE-LOGistic Team Austria from the HTL Weiz.
In this spectacular challenge, the students competed against each other in transnational teams to solve their task with robots they constructed themselves. The main focus was therefore not on individual performance, but rather on working together within the international teams on a total solution. The team from the HTL Weiz managed to achieve a very respectable 54th place (out of 163 places). The winning team came from Hungary and represented the continent of Europe.
